At BVEC, we recently completed one of the biggest projects that we’ve ever done. It was a large-scale project for the Harbour Beach Club in Salcombe and it’s already regarded as one of the most prestigious hotels in the South West of England.
We’re proud of the work we did there and yes, we did shout about it as any business would. However, if we’re honest, it’s a slightly misleading story because it’s not the only type of work we do, in fact far from it. These days, we handle every aspect of electrical contract work from huge projects like the hotel, right through to the smallest domestic need.
Better understanding
To get a better understanding of why this is, it’s probably best to take a quick journey back to where the business started in 2012. At that point we were brand new to running a business and we worked incredibly hard to build up the reputation that we have today as being the ‘go to’ electrical contractors for Torbay and the wider area of South Devon.
To achieve that reputation, you have to take on every project that comes your way regardless of size. However, at that early stage, businesses are rarely given the bigger projects just because they’re untested, unknown and possibly understaffed.
Bread and butter project work
But as the next ten years unfolded, we slowly started to attract larger scale projects, but we’ve never forgotten where we came from. The smaller domestic projects are just as important. Projects like electrical testing and inspections, recessed lighting in modern extensions and even outdoor wiring so that people could power up their lockdown projects. This is our ‘bread and butter’ project work that the business has thrived and grown on and it’s this sort of work that has made the BVEC business better.
Today, BVEC is one of the South West’s leading, NICEIC approved, residential and commercial electrical contractors, covering both Devon and Cornwall. We employ 35 people and are SMAS health and safety accredited which ensures that we are fully compliant, carrying out regular site audits and offering full training to all of our staff.
